Welcome to Jennifer’s Adventures in Baking Blog. Here you’ll find my adventures (and misadventures, hopefully not too many) in baking along with photographs and occasional reflections on my quest to learn what I can accomplish in the kitchen.
I’ve always found comfort and joy in baking, with my most relaxed self making pastries, breads and cake. I’ve dreamed about owning my own bakery but have been putting that off far too long. In attempt to get closer to my goal, I’ve started this blog as a journal of my creations.
I hope you’ll find baking inspiration here, moving you to get into the kitchen and start baking!
MORE ABOUT ME
My name is Jennifer Brake and I live in Belgium, Wisconsin, surrounded by lakes, farms and never-ending winters. I am a self-taught baker, and at one time worked as a pastry chef (in-training) at a small restaurant in Waukesha, WI. I developed a love of baking while in high-school as part of a school sponsored food-service coop. I wanted to be a chef at that time but the long hours got the best of me. I ultimately ended up in the marketing profession where I’ve been for the last 20+ years. I enjoy my career but baking has always been my main passion.
After years of dabbling in the kitchen with different desserts, I did take a few culinary classes in cake decorating. I’ve been decorating cakes for the last 10 years but feel the need to expand my repertoire with all things baked. There is a world to be discovered of pastries, breads, donuts, cakes, pies, etc… I’m looking forward to the journey and thank you for coming along with me on this glorious ride!
